My 'first' post on the country of China was on
Wednesday, August 28, 2013.

It was a quick overview, with a province map,
a focus on regional foods
and a bit about traditional tea ceremonies, etc.

Today, let's touch on the many differing arts
that the Chinese people are famous for.

Chinese folk arts are divided into styles:
cutting
bundling
plaiting
knitting
embroidering
carving
molding
painting

Each one has its' own local 'flavor' and ethnic style!

Let's peek at an art that most of us will be familiar with:
Chinese Calligraphy

This is a Chinese calligraphy set,
or a sumi set.

Chinese calligraphy is widely practiced and respected in the Chinese cultural circle, which includes China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Chinese calligraphy and ink and wash painting are closely related,
as they use similar tools and techniques.

Calligraphy has led to many other forms of art,
such as seal carving, paperweights and inkstones.

Just as there are different 'hand writing' styles, so does calligraphy reflect the writer.
